New Flooring

This is the new flooring in our home.

We thought we would start with the kid's rooms.

This would be the son's new floors.
It has created all sorts of new storage in his room.

This is daughter's new floor.
The organization it has created is fabulous.

Just as an FYI....Asher has a huge closet and Haley has a walk in closet.
Most people would die for storage like that.

Nope not my kids.
They want to see everything all the time.

I just shut their doors so I don't have to look at it.
I have had the belief that it is THEIR space.
They can do with it what they wish.

The one thing that bugs me more than anything is when I do finally reach my breaking point and I tell Asher to clean his room (honestly, Haley's room is usually really picked up)I end up with all the clean clothes back in the dirty laundry.
Sheesh, you would think by now I would learn to have him do his own laundry.

I "try" to have one rule....NO FOOD IN THE BEDROOMS.
Hey, I think I see a pop can in Asher's room.
"Ohhh, Asher........"

Hey, I just had another idea.....Chalkboards in the bedroom.
It could read something like this...
"DO YOUR OWN LAUNDRY"
I think they would get the idea.

Please tell me my kid's are not the only ones that live in rooms like this.

Happy Tuesday!

ps. I have to defend Haley here.....she is a college student with a VERY busy life.
Since she has been home from school she has not been home for a single weekend.
AHHHH....to be young and carefree again!
*sigh*

Oh, girl, we have the exact flooring, perhaps with a bit more Mosaic in it. There is a inch or two of carpet throughout. I"m like you, only every so often do I reach the breaking point and get the ugly face that whispers clean your rooooooooommmmmmmm....or else.
:) I'm a good mamma like that, doncha know?????

My daughter does the same thing. She throws the clean clothes in the laundry room as a way of cleaning up her room. Cute floor story!

you are not alone sista! i wash clean clothes ALL the time! my oldest son's bedroom is always clean but my youngest, is never clean, as well as the boys bathroom. dirty/clean clothes on the floor constantly. It never ends. Oh, and the chalkboard thing wont work. I hung one above their toilet saying "please flush" and still they never do! I know disgusting! their wives will probably hate me someday!

I have an 18 month old that makes a bigger mess than that! Seriously, how do they do it? Ah, the joys of parenthood. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!

My kids don't seem to know what "clean' means, and I can tell you, I have "shown" them MANY times. hmmmm......I think this might just be a ploy by them to get ME to clean them...wha? The cat's outta the bag - they're not gonna fool ME anymore!

Here's to hoping that my 3 year old will always be as tidy as he is now.

Oh, and my husband's name is Asher (and so is my son's, but we call him by his middle name to keep the confusion to a minimum.)My husband was the only Asher he knew growing up, so he thinks it's pretty cool that the name has become more popular.

my son is almost 21 and his floor still looks like that and i still get clean clothes in the laundry. I made the rule that if his laundry doesn't get put in the laundry room on sunday he will going to laundry mat and I have to clean his room I charge him $25 dollars....so far it is working.lol

I as I read this - my daughter is 'supposed' to be cleaning up the stuffed animals in her room. (they were all put on her bed last night, and then swiped OFF and onto the floor so she could sleep last night.)

There is a glimmer here and there that there is hardwood under there....but there certainly isn't a place for a mommy or daddy-sized foot to step in there!

So - High School Musical is blasting on her CD player, and she's been distracted and is playing with something else.

You're not alone, my friend - LOVE this post. Makes me smile!!

UGH - and cleaning clean clothes again...drives me NUTS. I'm *really close to teaching Katelyn how to fold laundry.

Nevermind the waste of water/detergent/green reasons - all are DISTANT second to the fact i HATE folding laundry. there i said it.

Sweet!

The kids rooms look like my wife's bedroom in between her Straightening Ups.

I've always been one to 'Clean/Tidy as you go'. That way you never have to take a Day just to clean and tidy.

Oh it's fine to give them a hard time!! And I think the chalk board idea is the best! Go for it!
Their rooms are no where near the worst I've seen!

Mine is identical! Drives me crazy! I try to think the same thing about their space, but when I find I am doing 10 loads of laundry after a weekend, and some of the shirts are still creased with my folding marks...I do the sneak attack. I put it right back on their bed for them to put "away". Ken thankfully will light a fire under them every other week to put all their clothes away where they belong and stand and verify. Of course I am sure the frustration will turn to sadness when I don't see it anymore right??
