~My New Avian Obsession~

I have seemed to have collected in the last two months so many little bird items.

Here are a few of them:

The cage and the little birds were all purchased on e-bay!

This I bought at my friend Kasey's Holiday open house..
This is when it must have all started...I went to a Southern Living at Home party about three years ago and bought this birdhouse~
Again, this cage is actually part of a three piece set I got off of E-Bay. It has the Father Bird cage, the Mother Bird cage and the Baby Bird cage~
Again from Kasey's open house....
Gotta love a bell jar. They make EVERYTHING look pretty....
This poor little lonely bird needs some company under that bell jar.....maybe a mate :)

I got this darling bird 1/2 off after Christmas at this little store here in town. They called this a Christmas item....this is not a holiday piece in the Maisy house~
I got this at Target. Again, they called this a holiday pillow and I got it 80% off after Christmas. Again....I think not.

I really, really, really want 2 real birds for my house. Ya know that kind, the itty, bitty ones.
Bill said "NO.....buy as many fake ones as you need but please don't bring live lunch in for the cat"....

I love birdcages too and have a few of them scattered around the house. It's funny how certain times in our lives certain "themes" in decorating appear. When I was pregnant it was all about boxes (nesting, I guess) and now that I'm embarking on a new adventure it's all about chalkboards for me. (Not sure why on that one!) So, what's with the birds for you? Feeling the need to take flight, entering a new stage in your life, feeling joyful?

I think that it is fair to say
Porcelain birds are A OK
The cage stays clean
They smell delightful
Because of this
I am not spiteful

Real birds are not enticing
On the other hand
Some are good for dicing
So long as they are plastic
They're fantastic

My favorite is the pink bird with music notes- it's so pretty! They're all really pretty, and that Target pillow is fabulous- what a great find!

I had a bird, Sammy, and I wanted her for years before my mom finally gave in. I loved Sammy, don't get me wrong, but she was a MESS! And she was little, you wouldn't think that she could poop that much, but she could.

I would still get a Bird if Spencer really wanted one, but they are not the easiest creatures to care for.

I can't wait to see the additions to your collection. Have a great weekend :)

I saw that pillow at Target recently, but it wasn't 80% off. I like your new obsession!
